This is a virtual consultation group held every second Monday of the month for Licensed Filipino/a/x Therapists and Clinicians to consult on their client cases with emphasis on the Filipino culture and lived experiences within their work.
All therapy modalities and clinical backgrounds are welcome.

Consultation Group Story:
Kasamahan started as a Consultation Group based in the Illinois facilitated by now President, Cristina in 2020. Since Kasamahan's nonprofit status was established, Vice President, Edward took on the role of Consultation Facilitator. As Facilitator, Edward is consistently praised for the structure and safety he provides which supports participants to consult and collaborate on their challenges in private practice. Our most consistent participants as of 2023 - Aug 2024 are Cheryl Weiss, LCPC, Alissa Catiis, LCSW, RYT, Fredelyn Calla, LCPC, ATR-BC, Patricia H. A. Perez, PhD, Eliza Wangerin, LCPC, Joanne Garces, LCSW, Cherie B. Concepcion, LMFT Starting May 2024 when our website was established by Secretary, Eliza we gained several new participants that we hope will also become part of our consistent "core" group through 2025 to strengthen this community within our community.
Salo-salo in Tagalog loosely translates to feast, gathering, or party. This is a virtual social gathering for all Filipino/a/x mental health professionals to connect with each other in a more personal way through both similar and diverse Filipino/a/x experiences.

This October, celebrate Filipino American History with us! This will be our third Salo-Salo with our last one in July. We welcome familiar and new participants. This is a casual social event. Feel free to ask questions prior to attending.

Who do we consider a mental health professional?
Licensed Therapists and Clinicians recognized by a governing Clinical Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Professional Counseling, Psychology or Medical Board from their state or country.
Non-Licensed Students, Professors, Researchers, Authors, Community Workers, Consultants, Coaches, Healers, and Practitioners recognized by their community in providing education and support that is focused on mental health care.

Many of the participants in our Salo-Salos provide feedback on how surprisingly comfortable it is to make kuwentuhan and experience kapwa amongst Filipino/a/x mental health professionals.
This event is also our Board Consultant, Michael's favorite part of Kasamahan due to the "energy" created in this space.
